January 2016

Happy New Year!

We would like to invite your dancer to participate in a vocal & acting development class for an upcoming 6 week session. This class will be taught by Cambria Gartke, a local vocal teacher!

Cambria Gartke attained her Bachelor of Music in vocal performance from the University of Lethbridge, studying under Edith Pritchard and Dr. Blaine Hendsbee. She has had many performance opportunities including master classes, solo recitals, Woman’s Chorus, University of Lethbridge Singers, and Opera Workshop. Major opera performances include Menotti’s “Amahl and the Night Visitors”, Mozart’s “The Marriage of Figaro”, and Purcell’s “Dido and Aeneas.” Currently, she teaches private voice lessons and preschool music classes at Calgary’s Harmony Music School.

The classes will begin Sunday January 31st, and run through to Sunday March 13th (with the exception of Sunday February 14th as we will be closed for the Family Day Weekend).

We highly encourage all competitive dancers to take advantage of this opportunity.   In these classes, students will learn proper singing technique and drama skills using engaging activities and exercises. Vocal technique will include breathing exercises, vocal warm-ups, tongue twisters and a group song to perform by the end of the six weeks. The drama element will include activities that encourage creativity, using imagination, expressing emotions, and improvisation. Since drama and music go together naturally, there will be crossover in both elements of the class.

In the end, students will learn vocal projection, to sing and speak with clear diction, to express with emotion, and to grow in confidence in singing and acting in front of each other. Altogether, this class will develop and strengthen singing and acting abilities.

The cost of the session is $126.00 (GST included).

Registration will be accepted until Friday January 22nd.  We anticipate these classes will fill quickly, and encourage registration as soon as possible.

Our office hours are Monday – Thursday 4:30-8:30pm & Saturday 9am-2pm.

We look forward to this exciting new opportunity for our dancers.
